U-17 AYC NIGER'15: Victor Osimhen top scorer award gave Nigeria a consolation

Nigeria may not have won any title at the just concluded 2015 African U17 Championship at Niger, but Golden Eaglets' player, Victor Osimhen, won the highest goal scorer award after scoring the only goal in his side's 3-1 loss to Guinea.

The 3-1 loss was the second time the Emmanuel Amunike-led side lost to their Guinean

counterpart in the tournament, the first was their 2-1 loss at group stage of the tournament, before losing again at the third place match on Sunday.

Osimhen beat team captain Kelechi Nwakali and other players to the top scorer's chart, after netting the lone goal that took him to the top of the chart, over others with three goals in the tournament.

Guinea's goals came through Aboubacar Touré and Abdoulaye Jules Keita . After this second goal , Nigeria seemed to surrender which made it easier for Guinea to add the third goal in this game by Abdoulaye Jules Keita, again .

The Eaglets scored only seven goals during the championship with only two players accounting for all goals with Osimhen’s four goals adding up to the three netted by team captain Kelechi Nwakali.

Osimhen got his first goal in Niger in the opening game against the hosts and added a brace in the third game against Zambia before his solitary goal for the Eaglets in the loss to Guinea on Sunday.

Emmanuel Amuneke's team will come back home knowing that the squad is not yet finished material and that he should look inwardly to invite further new players irrespective of where they are based for him to get the best possible side for the country ahead of the Fifa U17 World Cup in Chile later in the year.
